Global large-sized panel shipment dropped QoQ by 1%, or 1.74 million units in 4Q11
New TV sizes continue to be hot topics, while shipments of panels such as 39” and 50” continue to grow in December. Looking ahead into Q1 2012, the total shipment of these two sizes can be as high as 1 million units leading to rather significant benefit for the sales performance of CMI.
In 2011, the LCD panel industry was hit hard by the aftermath of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in Japan, worsening credit crisis in Europe and the US, and China’s economic growth slowdown. Not only did this put panel makers’ businesses in the red, it also dealt a severe blow to the consumer market confidence.

In the second half of 2011, the tablet market business has been slightly rocky. Aside from the dismal sales reported by most brand vendors in the third quarter, even No.1 leader Apple has lowered its projected sales for the fourth quarter. In light of the weaker-than-expected market sales, touch module makers have been especially keen in controlling costs.
For 2011, it will likely be characterized as a sluggish year to global TV brand vendors, as the global economic downturn severely curbed consumer demand. Furthermore, this sluggishness is not expected to recover at least until early 2012. In response, brand vendors have been particularly keen in maintaining relatively low inventory levels.
November 29, 2011--- According to the shipment report of top ten global LCD monitor brands and SIs in October published by WitsView, TrendForce’s panel research division, October shipment by brands dropped by 5.2% compared to September while October shipment by SIs decreased by 8.8%.
According to the latest survey report on shipment of large-sized panel in October published by WitsView, a research division under TrendForce, the total large-sized panel shipment in October has reached 59.32 million units with MoM regression of 2.4% and YoY growth of 11%.
