1HNov. NAND Flash contract price with mixed ups and downs

11 November 2009 Semiconductors

2009 Nov 11th--------The fluctuation range for 1HNovember NAND Flash average contract price is around -2%~6% that since the year end inventory replenishment for hot season still effects, yet some vendors mildly adjust up contract price for certain products. However, with the raising portion in 3xnm process technology in November, also some vendors lower the contract price or remain flat. Therefore, given the tighter supply, the NAND Flash price remained relatively stable in early November, according to DRAMeXchange.

DRAMeXchange expects that  the demand is foreseeable to get slow since the peak for inventory replenishment is expected in Nov. Also, iPhone launch did not show the satisfactory sales condition in China market as it did in other developed countries, which did not rally recent NAND Flash demand. Along with the raising portion of 3Xnm node output coming in December, the supply is expected to be further increased.

Recently DRAMeXchange also sees the new white-box memory card vendors could partially fulfill some demand for some memory card makers since most of NAND Flash suppliers took priority on some electronics system customers and resulted in the unsatisfactory inefficient shipment for memory card clients during September and October. Combined with all the demand & supply conditions, current  tighter supply in NAND Flash market may turn into more eased status after the restock peak period for traditional hot-season sales, so the price is likely to soften as well.
