    04-24-2017 / Iris Hu
WitsView, a division of TrendForce, reports LCD TV panel shipments for this first quarter totaled 60.16 million units, representing a drop of 10.7% compared with the prior quarter but also a year-on-year increase of 0.4%. Looking at major trends in the TV panel market, the growing demand for 4K resolution is accompanying the steady increase in the average panel size. The top five TV brands by shipments in order are Samsung, LG Electronics (LGE), Hisense, TCL and Sony. [ more ]
  • TrendForce’s TV Panel Shipments Ranking for 2016 Shows LGD Retained First Place While BOE Displaced Innolux to Take Third
    01-24-2017 / Iris Hu
Global shipments of LCD TV panels for 2016 fell 3.5% from the prior year to around 260.4 million units, according to the latest report by WitsView, a division of TrendForce. Major panel makers expanded their Gen-8.5 production capacity during 2016 in response to the rising demand for larger TV panels. The increased production in the large-size segments helped consume the overall panel capacity and increased the average size of TV panels by 2.2 inches to 43.6 inches. Shipments of TV panels by area therefore actually increased by 6.5% annually. WitsView expects the average size of TV panels to increase again in 2017. [ more ]

  • TrendForce Forecasts LCD TV Shipments for 2017 to Expand by 2.5% Annually
    12-06-2016 / Ricky Lin
Shipments of LCD TV sets worldwide for 2016 are estimated to grow by 1.9% annually to around 220 million units, according to the latest analysis by WitsView, a division of TrendForce. At the start of 2017, the U.S. consumer market will be bumpy in the short term due to the results of the country’s presidential election. If the U.S. Federal Reserve decides to raise the key interest rates next year, domestic consumer spending will recover and the country will again play a major role in sustaining global TV sales. WitsView forecasts that global TV shipments for 2017 will reach 225 million units, up 2.5% compared with the prior year. [ more ]

    10-27-2016 / Ricky Lin
WitsView, a division of TrendForce, reports global shipments of LCD TV sets in the third quarter of 2016 totaled around 57.15 million units, representing a sequential quarterly increase of 14.4% and a year-on-year increase of 5.8%. TV set shipments benefitted from peak season demand in the U.S. and Europe as well as festivities in China (i.e. the Mid-Autumn Festival and the National Day holidays). China’s vigorous housing market also has a positive effect on the domestic TV sales in the recent period. [ more ]
  • Shipments of Mid-Size LCD TV Sets for 2016 Are Lower Than Initially Projected, Says TrendForce
    10-04-2016 / Ricky Lin
Soaring prices during the second half of 2016 and the planned closure of Samsung Display’s L7-1 fab have created anxieties about supply shortages in the LCD panel market, according to the latest analysis by WitsView, a division of TrendForce. Due to these factors, the share of 40- to 49-inch models in the combined LCD TV set shipments from the top 15 branded vendors for 2016 will be smaller than the projection made at the start of the year by 3.8 percentage points. Hence, the mainstream size bracket of LCD TV sets is unlikely to make the transition from the 32-inch to the 40- to 45-inch, or the mid-size segment. [ more ]
