TrendForce Says Overall DRAM Market to See Upward Price Trajectory Through 2017 Despite Recent Dip in Spot Price of DDR4 Chips 04-26-2017 /
DRAMeXchange, a division of TrendForce, reports that the average spot price of PC DRAM DDR4 chips has fallen by about 1.92% since April 20. Latest analysis indicates that PC DRAM’s chip prices generally have been higher in the contract market than in the spot market. The recent drop in the average spot price of PC DRAM DDR4 chips is thus a correction to limit the price gap between the two markets. Nonetheless, DRAMeXchange maintains the view that DRAM prices will generally stay on an uptrend during the entire 2017. This is mainly attributed to tight supply resulting from the lack of major fab expansion plans and yield issues with leading-edge processes. [ more ]
Prices in DRAM Market Will Keep Rising Through 2017 as Annual Bit Supply Is Projected to Expand by Less Than 20%, Says TrendForce 12-14-2016 /
The global DRAM market has been on a roller coaster ride during 2016. Prices were on a steep slide in the year’s first half due to weak demand. However, the pickup in notebook shipments and the strong sales of Chinese branded smartphones since the start of the third quarter have not only reversed the price downtrend but also caused average selling prices of DRAM to make big jumps. Looking ahead to 2017, DRAMeXchange, a division of TrendForce, forecasts that DRAM bit supply will expand by less than 20% annually. This growth rate will also be a new historical low for the industry. Assuming that there will be no significant weakening of demand, DRAM supply will generally remain tight next year. Thus, suppliers should continue to reap profits during the entire 2017 on account of rising prices.

TrendForce Expects Average Contract Price of PC DRAM to Go Up 15% Sequentially in First Quarter of 2017 11-22-2016 /
The latest research from DRAMeXchange, a division of TrendForce, finds that the global DRAM market in the first quarter of 2017 will benefit from the stock-up activities ahead of the Chinese New Year holidays and the widespread expectations of tight supply. The average contract price of PC DRAM 4GB modules is estimated to rise by around 15% sequentially in next year’s first quarter to reach US$20. At the same time, the global DRAM market will see an across-the-board price hike that encompass DRAM for server, mobile and specialty applications. Despite off-season effect, the DRAM market will still be booming in the first quarter of 2017.
