According to DRAMeXchange, a research division of TrendForce, the year 2012 will mark the beginning of the ultrabook era. PC OEMs are eagerly working on ultrabook development, and the thin-and-light trend will spur overall PC growth in 2H12.

根据集邦科技(TrendForce)旗下研究部门DRAMeXchange调查，由于PC品牌大厂重押Ultrabook，带动PC-OEM厂对Ultrabook开发转趋积极，预期2012年轻薄笔电效应将在下半年开始发酵，可望拉抬PC产业走出成长泥沼。集邦科技表示，在Ultrabook加持下，2012年整体NB出货量达213M，成长率为9%，其中Ultrabook出货将超过20M台，占整体笔电出货量约可达一成。

HP recently announced its plans to spin off or sell their Personal Systems Group (PSG) and also discontinue WebOS tablet and smart phone products, shifting their focus to more profitable endeavors such as Service, IPG (Imaging and Printing Group) and ESSN (Enterprise Server, Storage and Networking). 2009年5月13日---全球筆記型電腦走低價風，研究機構集邦科技(DRAMeXchange)表示，觀察CULV CPU等相關零組件供貨量與速度，預估今年全球CULV平台的筆電出貨規模達800萬至1000萬台，占傳統筆電出貨約7%到9%，台廠宏碁(2353)可望拿下其中五成以上市占率。
 由於使用Atom CPU(處理器)的低價筆電Netbook持續熱賣，壓縮處理器大廠英特爾(Intel)毛利率，集邦科技表示，Intel為改善影響獲利及營收表現，因此力推CULV (Consumer Ultra Low Voltage，低電壓)處理器，率先響應的有台灣PC業者宏碁、華碩(2317)、微星(2377)等，今年上半年已經有相關產品上市，其中以宏碁產品線較完整。
