  • TrendForce Anticipates Global Server DRAM ASP in 2Q17 to Rise Over 10% From Prior Quarter as Demands Exceeds Supply
    04-18-2017 / Mark Liu
DRAMeXchange, a division of TrendForce, reports that demand continues to outpace supply in the server DRAM market. In this first quarter, memory suppliers saw their shipment fulfillment rates dropped for different groups of clients. The fulfillment rate for long-term agreement (LTA) orders was 80% on average, while fulfillment rates for orders from Chinese and Taiwanese ODMs fell to the 60% level. Due to the persistent undersupply, DRAMeXchange further projects that the global average sales price (ASP) of server DRAM will increase by more than 10% between the first and second quarter. [ more ]
  • Intel Aims to Keep Its Lead in Server Storage Market With Optane SSD DC P4800X Series, TrendForce Reports
    04-12-2017 / Alan Chen
Intel has made waves in the server SSD market with the reveal of its Optane SSD DC P4800X Series this March. Based the company’s in-house 3D XPoint memory, the DC P4800X Series is scheduled for shipments in the second half of 2017. “3D XPoint greatly outperforms NAND Flash and will help Intel reinforce its leading position in the high-end segment of the SSD market that has become increasingly competitive,” said Alan Chen, senior research manager of DRAMeXchange, a division of TrendForce. “In the future, the product roadmap of 3D XPoint could include client-grade SSDs and storage-class memory (SCM) devices. Intel naturally wants to expand the adoption of this technology in other areas as to create flexibility in pricing and consumption of in-house production capacity.” [ more ]
  • TrendForce Reports Global DRAM Revenue Jumped 18.2% Sequentially in Fourth Quarter of 2016 Owing to Soaring Contract Prices for PC DRAM
    02-14-2017 / Avril Wu
Peak season demand and surging prices for DRAM products across different applications resulted in an 18.2% sequential growth in the global DRAM revenue for the final quarter of 2016, reports DRAMeXchange, a division of TrendForce. [ more ]
  • TrendForce: DRAM Industry Outlook Positive for 2014, Annual Sales Growth Likely to Exceed 10%
    12-05-2013 / Ken Kuo
According to DRAMeXchange, a research division of TrendForce, 2013 has been a critical year for the DRAM industry. Benefiting from the rising smartphone and tablet sales, the first tier DRAM manufacturers gradually shifted their attention to Mobile DRAM, a move which caused the eventual decline in PC DRAM production; In the periods following the fire accident at SK Hynix's Wuxi plant, 4GB module contract prices rose from US$17 to US$33, and gave DRAM manufacturers greater room for profit. • TrendForce: 1H'Nov Prices Stay Flat, Weak Market Demand Increases Pressures for Price Adjustments
    11-21-2013 / Avril Wu
According to DRAMeXchange, a research division of TrendForce, the upcoming off peak quarter and underwhelming worldwide demand have made manufacturers relatively unwilling to agree on the 1H'Nov contract prices. Due to the persistence of such a situation, along with SK Hynix's strategic decision to lock its Q4 prices, the contract prices have remained mostly flat. The 4GB average prices stayed relatively unchanged at US $32, whereas the 2GB prices remained at US$17.75. [ more ]
